As we enter into a new decade it’s time to celebrate the heroes of the past one, welcome Bruno Mars. American Singer-Songwriter Bruno Mars was born into a family of musicians in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 8, 1985. His music hit top charts countless times in the decade and remains an inspirational figure throughout music. Mars’s real name is Peter Hernandez Jr. His father is of Puerto Rican, Hungarian and Ukrainian descent and his mother was of Filipino ancestry. Bruno Mars was one of the first widely acclaimed mixed pop stars to hit the decade and continues to make strides in his career and life.

 Hybrida is a Collection of poems written by Tina Chang in which she reflects the complexities of parenting a child of mixed ethnic heritage through her poetry. She voices her concerns for safety against racial bias in schools as well as reflects her experience of loving her African American and Asian American son in a country shaped by discrimination against people of color. She beautifully portrays the dangers of childhood under these circumstances by referring to the world of fairy tales to reflect aspects of society and reimagine identity, heredity, and family.
